My life in photos.

All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray…

The majority of my life, a mild fear of commitment has prevented me from ever declaring a “favorite” anything. It took me twenty two years to decide that I like my eggs over medium the best and no song will ever move me the way What a Wonderful World does. My favorite color is still in question but today, I made a major commitment. Because today, my friends, I declare fall my favorite season. Everything is dying, the weather is getting cooler, and the abundance of commercialized holidays begins. Understandably, this may sound depressing to some…I think it’s absolutely delightful.

It’s the time of year when you can pile a sweater over another failed attempt at the perfect bikini body and put on a pair of knee high boots instead of shaving your legs. The weather is never so hot you can’t breathe, or so cold you can distinctly see your breath.  The bombardment of barbeques is over but the chaos of Christmas has not yet begun. The fashion magazines are thick and the season premieres have begun. It’s pure perfection.

Fall makes me want to cook. It makes me want to carve pumpkins. It makes me want to take walks in the crisp air outside and drink hot apple cider inside. It makes me want to curl up in a blanket next to the fireplace and read. Fall is the coziest thing I can think of.

Most of all, it makes me want to sloooooooow doooooooown. Take time to smell the roses? Spring can keep ‘em. I want to smell burning leaves.  The summer always seems to go by so fast. I think fall should be the season that we all chill out a little bit. Actually witness the color of the trees turning. Don’t just buy your kid a costume at Target, create one at home. Cuddle up with your Beau. Make soup. Make TIME. Because it flies whether we’re having fun or not….we might as well enjoy it.
